Let's Talk!

National Day of Reconciliation 11/09/16

The National Day of Reconciliation is on the Wednesday following the regular election day which occurs on the Tuesday immediately following the first Monday in November.  It is a day intended to put the divisions, rhetoric and shame generated during the election cycle behind us. Reconciliation Day lands on November 9th in the 2016 election year

What is "Reconciliation"?

The following video is from Australia and represents the best of what reconciliation means. While not specific to the type of reconciliation needed in America, the ideas, definition and context is wonderful.

Story

Wrongdoing has implications for multiple moral values, including, most fundamentally, justice.

“We believe, however, that there is another kind of justice – a restorative justice which is concerned not so much with punishment as with correcting imbalances, restoring broken relationships – with healing, harmony and reconciliation”

Reverend Desmond Tutu
